Pro-Clinton group's
ad hits Trump over support for troops
August 01, 2016
By Jordain Carney
The ad
features Joe Kernan, a retired naval officer and prisoner of war
in Vietnam, who calls the earlier comments about McCain a
"disgrace" and questions whether Trump understands what it means to
be commander in chief.
"Donald Trump
doesn’t understand the weight of sending Americans into harm’s way. He’s unfit
to be president," Kerman says in
the ad.
Trump came under
sharp criticism last year after he criticized McCain, saying he was only
considered a "war hero" because he was captured during the Vietnam
War.
"I like people
that weren't captured," Trump added at the time.
The TV ad, titled
"Captured," will run in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New
Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
